We use several strategies that require Renko bars. Adding an option for this feature would be very valuable to all traders who use them.

Okay, I've been slow about this one, but the Renko Bars indicator for Forex Tester is now ready!

Although Tantulus did a great workaround for the lack of Renko, Please do add the Renko bars in the next release please as a native form of representing the price bars

I have written a Range Bars as well as a collection of Renko-based indicators but I've yet to release them because FT is not capable of handling this type of price action indicators efficiently.

Fortunately, Mike and the boys are on the job and have already created a new (experimental) release which allows this type of indicator to be coded to run very quickly and efficiently. He has stated that he intends to release this new technology in the next release which should be in about a month.

For those who are interested, send me a PM and I'll help you get the indicator you want and also an advance copy of the new release (remember, it's still a beta).

We plan to add Renko charts in Forex Tester 3. It will be issued in several months.

I’d really appreciate Renko Bars for testing in FT3, additionally I’d especially like to see the ‘Median Renko’ available.

I emailed these two developers and inquired about what it would cost to port there MT4 Median Renko into FT2 code .

And these were the responses;

“I had a quick look at the tester you mentioned. Though it looks nice, it is an independent standalone application, and porting the code to it means coding from scratch in a different (and unknown) environment. I do not think I would be able to do so.”

The plug-in's core is coded in C, so conversion to C++ is indeed possible, but I'm not familiar with this software and I'm not sure if it is possible to implement a custom bar type.

Maybe it is easier to convert to FT2 then the two developers perceive, but offering to pay did not even get their attention for assistance.

To bad, so sad. Maybe FT3 will come to the rescue?

Renko charts will be added in Forex Tester 3 version.
As for Median Renko, we don't plan to add this type of charts at the moment.

That is great news about the Renko charts coming to FT3 and once Renko officially has been added the Median Renko should be easier to implement. Even if we have to ask a third party developer to build them.

I hope there has also been time to add additional functionality to Renko charts so that we can advance the chart one bar at a time, instead of just play mode, this will allow better synchronization with other chart types open in the same testing session.

Hey guys.. Glad to see renko charts added. Its an absolute pleasure now. Quick question.. Does the native renko charts look at closing prices or high, low? The reason i ask is beacuse most of renko indicators for mt4 use high or low which is incorrect.

Any clarification on this would be great.

Renko charts should work based on the close price as far as I know.
