General Improvements to Saving Projects

#1 Postby stockwet » Thu Jan 11, 2007 1:34 pm

After a couple months of usage, I'm still have trouble with saving projects. It's not necessarily that I'm having a problem doing it, but, I think the interface just needs to be cleaned up a bit and the rules for saving a bit more intuitive. Here's some suggestions:

1. When choosing "Save", provide a list of current projects that can be overwritten, unless #2.
2. If a current project is open, "Save" should save that project without prompting for a new name. Save As should provide a list of projects available to overwrite, or the user can specify a new name.

Generally, I find this feature useful, but, a bit kludgy at times. I'm also not sure how projects are affected when I load new data, which is a problem. It would be nice to have a data manager along with the projects manager so that I can save a project and associate it with a particular data file. If I load new data, I don't lose my project, I just need to revert to the other data set.
