FT Pro will not launch

#1 Postby Rangerdoc » Thu Oct 16, 2008 5:12 pm

I'm unable to get Forex Tester Pro to launch. I get a "Forex market simulator has stopped working" message. Nothing else. It has never run except for the initial time where I got my hardware ID. I've never been able to get it to launch to even enter my registration. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've removed all traces from the registry and reinstalled.
I'm running Vista Home Premium. I've attached the event log. (basically useless). I've e-mailed FTP support, but they aren't responding... not even an auto-response.
Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Under Vista Forex Tester must be installed to "c:\ForexTester" folder, not to "c:\Program Files\ForexTester" because Vista does not allow applications to write to that folder. About support, it is possible that your e-mail was deleted by our spam filter, sorry about that.

What do you mean "stopped working" I do not remember such a message. Maybe you mean "disconnected"?

It seems that you are trying an old version, look at your logs, it reports version 1.0.0.8, while in previous person's logs I see version 1.0.0.12. Version 1.12 is the latest version, try to download it from our site and install it to C:\ForexTester\, it works under Windows Vista.

I had the same problem on my Vista Home Premium.
The only way to make it run was to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Control Panel --> System-->Advanced Setting-->Advanced-->Performance-->Settings-->Data Execution Prevention.
Lite version ran just by adding an exeption for ForexTester.exe file.
To run Pro version I had to turn off DEP for all programs exept essential (not good for security though)
Hope it help.

Try new beta version from here: http://www.forextester.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1151

This bug should be fixed.
