what is the preferred Delphi to use with FT3 ?

#1 Postby Lonesome » Thu Nov 03, 2016 12:32 am

Currently I have Borland Turbo Delphi (https://archive.org/details/turbodelphi_10) and Embarcadero Delphi Berlin 10.1 Starter installed.
Which is the preferred Delphi to use with Forex Tester 3?

Hello

Borland Turbo Delphi should be better because as far as I know, there are some issues with coding FT files on Delphi 10.1

You can also Google for Delphi7_Lite_Full_Setup_v7.3.3.0_Build_2009-6-22_.rar, this version should working without any problems too.

Hi, thanks for the link. I found others like this one. But I was not able to download Delphi from any of them.
Were you able to download Delphi from this site?
If yes, then please tell me how you did it.

On this webpage I also found a link to a Delphi7_Lite_Full_Setup_v7.3.3.0_Build_2009-6-22. This seems to be somewhat kosher. Unfortunately the server is not responding.

Hi Everyone,
I'm also facing problems with Embarcadero Delphi Berlin 10.1. It doesn't make sense that we can't build strategies with the last Delphi's version in FT3. At this moment is quiet difficult to find Delphi 7 version, all web site announcing to download it, it’s scam.

Please, help!!

arodatos,
Turbo Delphi is working fine. Although I experience an error message-based freeze once in a while.
I suggest to email FT support about Delphi7.

wangzhui, Delphi7 is old. Roughly from around 2009/2010. The current Delphi is Delphi 10.1 from Embarcadero. But Delphi7 seems to be the version Delphi FT works best with.
Earlier Delphi7_Lite_Full_Setup_v7.3.3.0_Build_2009-6-22 was recommended from FT, but slightly newer version seem also OK. Version 7.3.3.0 is impossible to get on the internet.
I am now using Delphi7Lite_7.3.4.1. After using Borland TurboDelphi I switched to Delphi7. I now prefer Delphi7 over TurboDelphi.

Hi I use Embarcadero 10.1 berlin Delphi starter with no issues. You have to make some changes to the uses.

like graphics is vcl.graphics

and you have to give the full path for the technicalfunctions.pas

TechnicalFunctions in 'C:\some location\TechnicalFunctions.pas';

otherwise the rest of the coding is the same.

about Embarcadero 10.1 Berlin Delphi Starter with no issues. That is good to know.

Another reason why I decided not to use 10.1 Berlin Delphi Starter is because I got the free version and the Embarcadero representative asked me to pay $1000 if I start making money with their free Delphi.
That includes money made from insights gained through FT Strategies programmed with 10.1 Berlin Delphi Starter. I specifically asked about that.
I decided that I want to live without this obligation. So, I use Delphi7. But if you have a license for Embarcadero Delphi then there is no worry.

Yes, but I seriously doubt that any Delphi representative knows anything about forex, so I doubt that they'd ever be able to find out whether anyone made any money from coding an indicator in FT3 and then using it in the FX market to make money. Seriously, how in the world would they even know?

Most likely.

It comes down to the point whether it is fair to run off with the money made in FX or whether one should pay tribute to the people who enabled one to make money.
One can look at it from the ethical standpoint or from the business standpoint of free Embarcadero Delphi being a priced in promotion.

I think this is the wrong venue to discuss this subject. People should decide based on their own conscious.

Agreed.

Anyways, I have Windows 10 on all my computers and nowhere does it mention if Delphi 7 run on windows 10. Do you know if it will?

I have not tried. But I don't know of any reason why Delphi 7 should not run in Win10. My guess is that it will work.
